Experience
As someone who has a passion for teaching and education, I love working with students in a one-on-one setting as well as in the classroom. There's nothing more rewarding than helping a struggling student overcome their challenges and exceed their own expectations. I've been working as a general English and English as a Second Language teacher for the past two years in Providence. I've also been working as an after-school tutor where I've been helping at-risk students improve their grades. Some of my favorite subjects to tutor are SAT test prep and writing. I am currently preparing for my entrance into graduate school next year, where I'll enroll in Columbia University's writing program. As a teacher, I always focused on the importance of English and communication skills. I believe that the best way to help a student succeed is to come up with material that they're able to understand and apply outside of the classroom. My goal isn't just to help students prepare for tests or improve their classroom marks, but to also motivate them and give them the self-esteem necessary to succeed throughout their lives. When I'm not working as a teacher, I like to spend my time reading, writing, and traveling abroad.
